Welcome!!

Welcome to our journey! The decision for us to adopt a child from China has been one of the most exciting things that we have done! We had no idea that a child half a world away could already be in our hearts....this is our journey to bring him home.

We hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving!   We did! We had a couple of family gatherings to go to and ate way too much!
We are still waiting to hear from our Home Study agency on when we are going to start our home study!  I will have to admit.....I am getting a little frustrated now! I guess I just thought that since we have started this all in the beginning of September that we would be farther along....at least with the Home Study!   I have been doing alot of research and just plain snooping around the internet and some people have heard from their Home Study agency in a  matter of a couple of weeks!  I will say.....our agency had us do everything that we were to do including fill out all the paperwork, physicals, references etc.  And I am hoping that the delay is that they want as much completed as possible before we actually meet with the social worker.  I guess I just have to be as patient as possible at this point.....not so easy to do!!  I am hoping the next time that I post we will have heard something from them and can get this wonderful process moving along!!

Well let's see!!  Where do I begin?  We started our journey by sending in our application to our adoption agency on 9/20/2010 and after a little over a week on 9/28/2010 we had heard from the agency that we were approved to move on in the process!! That was only the beginning but a huge step nonetheless :)

Next we were told to go ahead and find an agency to start our Home Study. Luckily there was an agency right in our city that would do that for us.  After I called them and they told me they would gladly do our Home Study.  I went in to register with them only to find out how much work a Home Study can be!! The lady at the desk actually told me to take the packet that we were to go home and fill out and go and sit down in the waiting room and look through it.....just to make sure that we still wanted to go ahead with it.  I guess she thought that it might scare some people away....no way!!   So....from that night forward for about the next week.....my husband would get home from work and we would go through about 2 pages of  questions.  Eventually we got all the questions filled out in the booklet. Doing it in sections helped to not make some of the questions repetitive.

We have handed in everything thing that is to be done for the Home Study. By 11/08/2010 we have been fingerprinted, had a physical and filled out miles of forms and questionnaires.....knowing that it all is one step closer to getting our precious little boy or girl...a wonderful feeling!!

And now......more waiting.
